The Facility In Charge at Kobeng Health Center and Nkawie Government Hospital in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipal of Ashanti region has raised concerns about infected cases of HIV/AIDS among the youth in the area which is very worrying and disheartening.
According to Dr. Emmanuel Boamah, statistics show clearly that as at November 2023, new cases detected 285 which 205 are on treatment, adding that the infected persons in the area is 1,682 with almost 70% been youth.
He continue that, since these youth are sexually active and most of them have multiple sex partners, the possibility of the spread of the disease is very high and a treat to the future.
The Facility In Charger of Kobeng Health Center stressed that the rate at which the municipal been a higher risk of this disease in the future is high since most of it youth contribute a lot which proper care needs to be taken to calm the spread of the disease.
Dr. Emmanuel Boamah gave a word of advise to the people in the area especially the youth to abstain from early sex, stick to their partner, use of protective measures and seek medical treatment in cases of any unusual changes in the body which can all contribute to the reduction of the spread of the disease.
But in an interview with Bismark Mensah, some residents in the municipality have expressed fears and urged the municipal authorities headed by Hon. Michael Amoah Awuku as MCE to intensify educational camping.
