Otumfuo Commends Amaniampong SHS for NSMQ and National Robotics Triumphs
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has commended Amaniampong Senior High School for its outstanding academic and technological achievements following a courtesy call on him at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi during the first Awukudae Festival of 2026.
The delegation, led by the Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Osei Owusu, visited the palace on Tuesday, January 14, 2026, as part of activities marking the traditional Awukudae celebration. Management, staff and students of the school joined the customary observance before being granted audience with the Asantehene.
Briefing Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Mrs. Osei Owusu highlighted the remarkable progress of Amaniampong SHS in recent years, particularly in the areas of academics and innovation. She announced that the school recently reached the semi-final stage of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), a significant achievement that has placed the institution among Ghana’s top-performing senior high schools.
The Headmistress further disclosed that the school emerged winners of the National Robotics Competition, an achievement that has earned Amaniampong SHS the opportunity to represent Ghana at an international robotics competition in the United States of America. According to her, the feat is the result of discipline, hard work and the collective commitment of both teachers and students to excellence in science and technology.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed admiration for the school’s achievements and described them as a source of pride for the Asante Kingdom and the nation. He congratulated the students and staff for their dedication and urged the students to uphold discipline, humility and patriotism as they prepare to represent Ghana on the global stage.
The Asantehene also encouraged school authorities to continue nurturing talent and promoting innovation, noting that education and technological advancement remain key drivers of national development.
The visit concluded with the leadership of Amaniampong SHS expressing profound gratitude to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for the warm reception and words of encouragement, describing the interaction as a great honour and a strong motivation for the entire school community to aim higher in future endeavours.
