Otumfour Demand Fair Allocation Of Shops In 2nd Phase Of Kejetia Market

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has charged the Ashanti Regional coordinating council to ensure fair allocation of the stores and stalls to traders at the redeveloped Kumasi central market.
He asked the regional minister to adhere to the modalities agreed on the allocation exercise to ensure that displaced traders were catered for first.

The Asantehene, who made the call during the last meeting of the Ashanti Regional House Chiefs in Kumasi today, thursday 15th Decemeber, 2022 alluded the need for fair sharing of the stores to avoid any future occurrence.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, cut the sod for the commencement of the second phase of redevelopment of the Kumasi CentralMarket, the largest open space market in West Africa in May , 2019. and expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2024.

Chiefs in the Ashanti Region who have had their lands invaded by illegal miners will be summoned by the Asantehene for questioning and possible sanctions.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II says chiefs should not sit aloof while illegal mining activities ravage arable farmlands and water bodies.
