OTEC FM Journalist, Opemsuo Radio Colleague Lead GH¢25,000 Christmas Donation to Widows in Ashanti Region
Journalists Kwame Agyenim Boateng of OTEC FM and Elijah Donkor of Opemsuo Radio, together with benevolent organisations and individuals, have led a Christmas donation exercise that provided assorted relief items worth over GH¢25,000 to more than 80 widows and an orphanage in the Ashanti Region.
The humanitarian initiative, which forms part of an annual outreach programme, was organised to bring relief and joy to vulnerable members of society during the festive season. The widows, drawn from several communities within the region, received essential food items and household supplies including bags of rice, cooking oil, canned sardines, toiletries and clothing.
As part of the exercise, the team also visited an orphanage where similar essential items such as rice and clothing were donated to support the upkeep and wellbeing of the children.
The donation was made possible through collaboration with Ebenezer Assemblies of God Church, Dorcas at Bronx New York, NAYAT Herbal Center at Dansoman, Devin Glory Hardware and Decor at Pakyi Number Two, as well as other benevolent individuals who contributed towards the success of the initiative.

Speaking at the event, Kwame Agyenim Boateng expressed his appreciation to all partners and supporters for their continued commitment to the cause. He explained that the donation exercise has been sustained for the past five years, largely due to the generosity and goodwill of individuals and organisations who share a passion for supporting widows and the less privileged.
“This initiative has been ongoing for five years, and it is made possible by the kind-hearted individuals and institutions who continue to support these widows and vulnerable groups, especially during the Christmas season,” he said.
The beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude to the organisers and donors, offering prayers for God’s blessings, good health and prosperity upon them. Many of the widows, some visibly emotional, described the support as timely and encouraging.
“We truly appreciate this kind gesture. May God bless everyone who has supported us,” they said.
The event once again highlighted the strong spirit of community support and generosity in the Ashanti Region, demonstrating the positive role media practitioners and community-based partners continue to play in promoting social responsibility and humanitarian service.
