Osofo Kyiri Abosom Scolds Mahama, calls his 24- Hour Policy A Prank and Hoax

The flag bearer of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Reverend Dr. Christian Kwabena Andrews, has described the 24- hour economic policy by John Dramani Mahama, former president and the flag bearer of the new opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as joke and hoax which should not be taken serious by the Ghanaian electorates.

He continued that the 24-hour vision of John Mahama is just an ordinary statement and not a company.
“24-hour is not a company, neither an enterprise nor it will not put food on the table but people are cherishing this statement and just making noise out of it. Is 24- hours an employment?” he queried.

According to the leader of GUM, there is the need to first think of establishing factories and companies to make NDC’s vision achievable, adding that John Mahama’s vision of the 24- hour economic policy is a mere talk which he is seeking to score cheap political points.
Osofo Kyiri Abosom, as he is affectionately known, has therefore called on Ghanaians not to be fooled by the former president but instead vote for GUM to continue the vision of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

The founder and leader of GUM made these statements when he was addressing the media at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital on Monday, January 29, 2024.

There were also representatives from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Small Scale Miners Association, Kumasi Abattoir, Tailors and Hair Dressers Association.
Others were Ghana Customs Service, Ghana Union of Traders Associations (GUTA), Ghana National Association of Garages and more.

Barely a week ago, John Mahama was in Kumasi to kick- start his #BuildingGhanaTour to explain the 24- hour economic policy, which seeks to ensure that service providers were always ready to attend to the needs of the people at all times of the day.
But he explained that the 24- hour economic policy could be attained, when all the factories built under erstwhile Kwame Nkrumah regime that have been left to rot in the bushes were revived or new ones built the policy could become achievable.

“Kumasi shoe factory, Bolgatanga meat factory, Aveyime , Akomadan Tomatoes factory, Wenchi Tomaca and many others have been abandoned to rot in the bush and unless there are revived or new ones were not built, the policy by John Mahama would be a mere talk,” he stated.

He called on stakeholders to revive the state owned enterprises instead of private owned enterprises to avoid the country from extinction.
Rev. Dr. Kwabena Andrews reiterated the need for Ghanaians to change their mindsets by refusing to vote for the New Patriotic Party and NDC and vote for GUM, adding that the two main political parties have done more harm than good and needed to change for a new party to govern the nation.

He said, “Look at the situation now we have so many factories that have been abandoned by these two main political parties and none of them cares of reviving the factories or bringing them back to life but are left at their mercies to rot.”
“These are the things that we do not want to continue in the country and we need to change our mindsets because these parties cannot help us but they are rather there to enrich themselves and leave us in debt and go away,” he bemoaned.

“John Mahama is old, Akufo- Addo is almost in his grave and so they do not care much about Ghanaians and so if you are here and you follow money to vote for NPP and NDC, remember the two are leaving us with debts to be paid by us and our children to pay,” he stated.
He called the leadership of the main two political parties greedy personalities who are only interested in milking the resources of the state.

“Let Ghanaians know that voting for either NPP or NDC would create problem in the country because they are only looking for power and not the welfare of the citizenry. Developing the country is not what matters them but only their interests and I charge you the media to go out and tell the populace,” he said.
The GUM flag bearer also attacked the personality of the Vice President, Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, who is also the flag bearer of the NPP, calling him a ‘liar’ who does not walk his talks.

“Can Bawumia tell us anything anymore, he is mere liar? He has given us many promises through all these years and nothing has happened. Let us educate Ghanaians you journalists here who are listening to me ,” he inquired.

GUM to open Free Port

Osofo Kyiri Abosom questioned why Ghanaians must pay huge sums of money at the port before goods imported to the country could be taken out. He there pledged GUM’s commitment to GUM to open a free port to lessen the burdens of businessmen and businesswomen in the country.
He alleged that many leaders of the country were so lazy that they not want to work, rather go for foreign loans and misuse them and leave us with debts.

Tax Reduction

He observed that taxes given to the nationals were many and that the next government of GUM would ensure that most taxes on goods would be removed to lessen the burden of Ghanaians. “Taxes on Ghanaians are unbearable. How can you continue to tax and tax and even put tax on electricity,” he quizzed.
