One feared dead as six miners trapped in galamsey pit

One person is feared dead as six persons have been trapped in a galamsey pit at Twepiase near Kibi in the Abuakwa South Municipality of the Eastern Region.

TV3’s Eastern Region correspondent Yvonne Neequaye reported that the miners were trapped in the pit after hours of downpour on Wednesday September 28.

Efforts are underway to rescue the victims.

Earlier this week, a Police officer at Sefwi Amoaya in the Sefwi Bodi District of the Western North Region who was part of a Police team on anti-Illegal Mining Operation duty around the River Sui got drowned.

The incident happened on September 27, 2022.

“Whilst investigations continue, the Police Administration wishes to express its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, colleagues and the Service as a whole,” a Police statements said.
