Oheneyere Aniwaa Afrakoma Atuapem Supports Manso Abodom BECE Candidates with Mattresses, Chop Boxes, and Bags

The Queen Mother of Manso Abodom in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region, Oheneyere Aniwaa Afrakoma Atuapem, has reaffirmed her commitment to promoting education in her community by donating a wide range of essential learning and boarding materials to this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates.
The benevolent Queen Mother presented 24 chop boxes, 24 school bags for both boys and girls, and 24 student mattresses, alongside Ecolac bags for three candidates who excelled in the examination with aggregate 12 each. The donation, which is valued at thousands of Ghana cedis, forms part of her continuous effort to motivate students in Manso Abodom to take their studies seriously and strive for academic excellence.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Oheneyere Aniwaa Afrakoma Atuapem emphasized that education remains the most powerful tool for transforming lives and communities. She stated that her gesture was not only to support the students but also to inspire them to work harder to become responsible and successful citizens who can contribute meaningfully to the development of Manso Abodom.

She used the occasion to advise the girls to stay away from social distractions such as boyfriend–girlfriend relationships, peer pressure, drug abuse, and early pregnancies, which she said often destroy the future of many young girls. Instead, she encouraged them to remain focused on their studies and dedicate themselves to building a better future.

“I want to see professionals from Manso Abodom—engineers, doctors, nurses, teachers, and lawyers, and even one day a minister or president—coming from this community. Education is the only legacy that no one can take away from you,” she said. “I also appeal to parents and guardians to make every effort to invest in their children’s education, because that is the surest way to secure a bright future for both the family and the community.”

The Assembly Member for Abodom–Brofoyedru–Adwumamu Electoral Area, Hon. Mark Asamoah, commended the Queen Mother for her consistent dedication to education and community development in Manso Abodom. He described her support as a clear demonstration of visionary traditional leadership that prioritizes the welfare and future of the youth.

Hon. Asamoah also used the opportunity to advise the beneficiary students to make good use of the items they received. He urged them to stay disciplined, remain focused on their studies, and work hard to achieve their academic and career goals.

“I want to remind all the beneficiaries that this kind gesture should motivate you to study harder and make your families and community proud. The best way to appreciate this support is through excellent academic performance,” he said.

Some beneficiaries and their parents expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Queen Mother for her generosity. They described the gesture as timely and impactful, easing the financial burden on families and boosting the morale of the students.

“This support has reduced our burden. May God richly bless Nana Hemaa for her kindness and for always thinking about the future of our children,” one parent said with gratitude.

Teachers and community members also praised Oheneyere Aniwaa Afrakoma Atuapem for setting a shining example of leadership dedicated to education and youth development. They noted that her contribution would go a long way in encouraging other traditional leaders and well-meaning citizens to invest in the future of the youth.

The Queen Mother’s latest donation adds to her growing record of support for education and community welfare in Manso Abodom, reaffirming her reputation as a visionary leader with the development of her people at heart.
