Oheneyere Afrakomaa Atuapim II Commissions Boreholes, Toilet Facility at Manso Abodom
The Queen Mother of Manso Abodom in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region, Oheneyere Aniwaa Afrakomaa Atuapim II, has reaffirmed her commitment to spearheading development in her community with minimal reliance on central government support.

She made this known at a colourful ceremony where she commissioned newly completed mechanized boreholes and a 20-seater modern toilet facility for residents. The projects, she explained, are part of her broader vision to enhance the quality of life in Manso Abodom through self-initiated and community-driven interventions.

Oheneyere Afrakomaa Atuapim II also recounted a number of developmental projects she has spearheaded since ascending the stool, including the construction of a Teachers’ Quarters, a community clinic, classroom blocks, additional mechanized boreholes, and the renovation of the Abodom Palace. According to her, traditional leaders must demonstrate visionary leadership by taking proactive steps to address pressing community needs rather than relying solely on government interventions.

The commissioning ceremony drew chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, and residents, who commended the Queen Mother for her foresight and dedication. Many community members expressed optimism that her efforts would inspire a new wave of self-help initiatives, ultimately transforming Manso Abodom into a thriving and secure community.

Despite these positive strides, some community leaders lamented what they described as the continuous neglect of Manso Abodom by successive governments. Speaking on behalf of the opinion leaders, Mr. Isaac, popularly known as Nana Sarfo, stressed that the area has long been denied its fair share of development projects, a situation that has adversely affected education, healthcare, and basic infrastructure.

The Assembly Member for the Abodom Electoral Area, Hon. Mark Asamoah, also used the occasion to call on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Amansie West District Assembly to post officers to a self-help police station recently built by residents. He emphasized that a permanent police presence would help address security challenges and safeguard ongoing and future development projects in the community.
