Odotobri MP Anthony Mmieh Demands Urgent Solution to Persistent Power Cuts

The Member of Parliament for Odotobri, Lawyer Anthony Mmieh, has taken a firm stance against the persistent power outages affecting his constituency, pressing the Minister of Energy for urgent intervention and clear timelines for resolution.

The recurrent blackouts, attributed to outdated equipment belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), have caused severe disruptions to businesses, healthcare services, and daily life in the constituency. Frustrated by the lack of improvement, the Odotobri legislator has escalated the issue, demanding concrete action from the authorities responsible.

Speaking on the matter, Lawyer Mmieh stressed that residents of Odotobri deserve reliable electricity and that their economic activities should not be hampered due to poor infrastructure.

“The frequent power cuts are negatively impacting livelihoods, businesses, and education in my constituency. My people cannot continue to suffer due to outdated ECG equipment. I am demanding clear answers and a definite timeline from the Energy Minister on when this issue will be resolved,” he stated.

The MP’s intervention follows mounting complaints from residents who have expressed frustration over the unreliable power supply. Many have reported damage to electrical appliances, reduced productivity in businesses, and difficulties in accessing essential services, including healthcare.

In response to Lawyer Mmieh’s concerns, the Energy Minister has assured him that plans are in place to upgrade ECG infrastructure in the area. However, the Odotobri MP insists that mere assurances are not enough, urging the government to fast-track the process.

He further called on ECG officials to engage with the affected communities and provide a roadmap on when the faulty equipment would be replaced to ensure a stable power supply.

Residents of Odotobri are hopeful that with the MP’s persistent advocacy, swift action will be taken to resolve the power crisis. Many believe that a reliable electricity supply is crucial for the district’s growth and are counting on their legislator’s efforts to yield results.

As the pressure mounts on ECG and the Energy Ministry, constituents eagerly await concrete steps to restore stable power to Odotobri.
