Nyinahin Chief Demands Probe and Prosecution Over Shooting Incident During Police Commander’s Visit

The Chief of Nyinahin, Nana Amampene Twum Boateng II, has called for an immediate and thorough investigation into a recent shooting incident in the area, urging law enforcement authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice.

The traditional leader made the passionate appeal during a courtesy visit by the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe, and a high-powered delegation from the regional command, accompanied by the Nyinahin District Police Command.

Nana Amampene Twum Boateng II expressed deep concern over the security situation in his traditional area, stressing that such violent incidents threaten the peace and development of Nyinahin and its surrounding communities.

“I strongly condemn the recent shooting incident. I am calling on the Ghana Police Service to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure that those responsible face the full rigours of the law. The people of Nyinahin deserve to live in peace without fear or intimidation,” the chief stated.

The visit by the Ashanti Regional Police Commander was aimed at strengthening police-community relations and assessing the security situation on the ground. It follows growing tensions in some parts of the Atwima Mponua District in recent weeks, including the shooting incident which has left residents unsettled.

DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe assured the chief and the people of Nyinahin of the Police Service’s commitment to peace, law, and order. He gave the assurance that investigations into the matter were already underway and pledged that the perpetrators would not go unpunished.

“We are taking the incident very seriously. The safety of our citizens is paramount, and we will pursue every lead until justice is served,” DCOP Cudjoe stated.

The chief, in his remarks, also encouraged the police to deepen their intelligence-gathering efforts and collaborate more closely with local leaders and residents in the fight against crime. He also called for more police visibility in the area to deter potential criminal activities.

The meeting ended with a renewed sense of cooperation between the traditional authorities and the police, as both parties pledged to work together to maintain peace and order in Nyinahin and its environs.
