Nyamebekyere DA Primary School Gets 3-Unit Classroom Block to Boost Quality Education

In a significant step toward improving educational infrastructure in the Akrofuom District, the District Assembly has officially handed over a newly completed 3-unit classroom block to the Nyamebekyere DA Primary School.
The modern facility, which also includes a headteacher’s office and a storeroom, was commissioned on Friday, May 23, 2025. The project was funded through the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) Responsive Factor Grant – VI (RFG), and executed by Taw J Company Limited.
At a brief but colorful handing-over ceremony, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Gariba Mohammed Mustapha, presented the keys to the building to the Headteacher of the school, Mr. Asamoah. In his address, Hon. Mustapha urged the school authorities and the community to maintain the facility well to ensure its longevity and continuous benefit to generations of pupils.
“The government remains committed to creating a conducive environment for teaching and learning, especially in rural communities like Nyamebekyere,” the DCE stated. He further called on community members, school authorities, and other stakeholders to partner with the government and the Assembly in promoting quality education.
The Odikro of Nyamebekyere, Nana Asamoah, who was present at the event, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the DCE and the Assembly for the timely intervention. However, he used the opportunity to highlight lingering challenges facing the school.
According to him, both pupils and teachers currently have to cross a road to access water and sanitation facilities, which they share with the general public. He appealed to the District Assembly to provide the school with its own toilet and potable water systems to ensure hygiene and safety.
Earlier in the day, Hon. Mustapha paid a courtesy call on the Akrofuom Gyasehene, Nana Anin Agyekum II, at his residence in Sikaman. Nana Agyekum welcomed the DCE and assured him of his full support and traditional blessings in the execution of his mandate for the district’s development.
The DCE was accompanied by the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Ebenezer Douglas Ntiamoah; the District Information Officer, Mr. Francis Andoh; and other officials of the Assembly.
The commissioning of the Nyamebekyere DA Primary School block marks yet another milestone in the Assembly’s ongoing efforts to bridge the infrastructure gap in basic education and enhance access to quality teaching and learning facilities for rural children.
