The Assembly member of Mpasatia Ahenbronumu electoral area in the Atwima Mponua of the Ashanti Region, Hon. Salifu Karim has said, the leadership of Npp and Akuffo government needs to come out to apologize to the former President John Dramani Mahama over Power plant renaming and relocation.
The AMERI POWER plant was procured in 2015 under a build own operate and transfer arrangement to produce a total of 250 megawatts of power to shore up Ghana’s energy generation capacity.
Under the said arrangement, Ghana was to take full ownership of the 250-megawatt capacity power plant after paying 510 million within five years.
According to Honorable Assembly member he said, The NPP Government and Bawumia should just apologize to Ghanaians and John Mahama on insult over the AMERI power plant.
He points out that the Ameri Power Plants, originally procured by former President John Dramani Mahama, were designed to mitigate the country’s power crisis during his administration, with a capacity to generate 25 megawatts of electricity.
He added that, Bawumia and Akufo-Addo out of shame have decided to repackage and rename the AMERI plants as Kumasi 1 Thermal Power Plant.
