Thomas Dindiego, a prominent Youth Activist for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former communication officer for the Wassa Amenfi East Constituency, has criticized the 2024 manifesto of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
In a statement made to journalists on Monday, Dindiego questioned the credibility and vision of Dr. Bawumia, labeling the NPP’s manifesto promises as “empty” and “uninspiring.” He argued that Dr. Bawumia’s proposals lack the necessary detail and feasibility for effective implementation.
Dindiego accused Dr. Bawumia of lacking originality, alleging that the NPP flagbearer has merely repackaged ideas from John Mahama’s 2020 manifesto as his own. He identified several policy areas where he claims Dr. Bawumia has borrowed from Mahama’s previous proposals, including pledges to eliminate ex-gratia payments and constitutional reforms.
Specifically, Dindiego pointed out that Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to abolish the e-levy, introduced by his own government, is akin to John Mahama’s earlier promise to remove it. He also criticized the NPP for adopting and rebranding NDC’s Women Development Bank as the Women Empowerment Programme.
Dindiego further slammed the NPP’s policies aimed at creating job opportunities through ICT and coding training, asserting that these are direct copies of NDC’s proposals to support indigenous companies with seed capital to enhance the digital economy.
He concluded by denouncing the NPP for allegedly plagiarizing NDC’s policy initiatives and warned Ghanaians to be cautious of what he described as deceptive promises from the ruling party.
