NDC WILL WIN TANO NORTH SEAT, YOUR MP HAS FAILED YOU–MAHAMA TO TANO NORTH DELEGATES

Former Presiden John Dramani Mahama has admonished the delegates, party executives and party faithfuls in the Tano North Constituency to work assiduously to snatch the parliamentary seat from the New Patriotic Party because the Member of Parliament over the period has proven to be a weaker link.

Ahead of the party’s much-anticipated primaries slated for May 13, 2023, the former president told party delegates and supporters in Tano North constituency in the Ahafo Region that the dwindling figures between the Member of Parliament for the area Hon Freda Prempeh and the NDC shows that with little effort the NDC can win the seat for the first time.

He said the 2020 elections results shows that Tano North Constituency remains one of the seats the NDC can win in the next elections, quoting the figures for instance he said, Nana Akufo Addo in the last elections polled 25,563 (62%) and he (John Dramani Mahama) had 15,371 (37%) but in the Parliamentary elections Freda Prempeh polled 22,592 (53%) whiles Pius Opoku also had 18,684, implying that, President Akufo-Addo had over 10,000 votes more than himself (Mahama) but Freda Prempeh won with just over 2,000 voters.

The constituency, he explained, was among the underdeveloped constituency because the Member of Parliament over the years has failed to lobby for developmental projects and hence the need for a development-oriented lawmaker, who could lobby for projects and undertake initiatives to spearhead the overall development of the area.

The former President who arrived in the region together with the executives and activists of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) opined that, a new NDC will not be in a hurry to start new projects but will take inventory of all abandoned projects and the little resources available will be dedicated to finishing those projects.

He charged the executives to own not only his flagbearer campaign, but also the 2024 campaign, restating his advice to regional and constituency executives to ensure fairness and transparency in the distribution of party resources and campaign materials to the branches.

“I know you will vote for me, and I thank you all. I will also work hard and with you to campaign effectively for our 2024 victory. I will provide the materials and logistics needed, but please let’s send them to the branches when they come. That is where the work is”, he advised.
