Nana Amoako Tuffour has been removed from his position as Abadwumhene by the New Edubiase traditional council. This decision was announced on August 13, 2014, at the New Edubiase palace by Oguahyia Oduro Panin Birikorang I, the paramount chief of the area.
The removal comes after serious charges were leveled against Nana Tuffour, including gross disrespect towards his subchiefs and neglect of traditional festivals like Awukudae and Akwasidae.
Queen Mother Nana Akyaw Konadu Yiadom and Opanin Kwaku Asare of the Oyoko Royal family provided evidence of these allegations during the council meeting.
Queen Mother Nana Akua Dwum II of New Edubiase voiced her dismay over Nana Tuffour’s actions, stating that they were incompatible with his role as chief.
Oguahyia Oduro Birikorang I reported that Nana Tuffour had ignored multiple invitations to address the charges, prompting his destoolment.
