Nana Abroso Urges Collective Effort to Combat Drug Abuse Among the Youth

Hon. Dr. Alex Yaw Baako, widely known as Nana Abroso and Assembly Member for Prestea Himan Electoral Area, has called on all Ghanaians to join forces in the fight against drug abuse among the youth, with a focus on the illegal use and sale of tramadol.

Speaking at the dedication ceremony of The Church of Pentecost, Bantama Assembly in the Prestea Himan District, Nana Abroso expressed grave concern over the escalating drug abuse among young people and its threat to the nation’s future.

“This issue is not the sole responsibility of government. It requires a united front from families, communities, media, and leaders to protect our youth from this growing menace,” he said.

He appealed to media houses to intensify their efforts in educating the public on the dangers of drug abuse among the youth and exposing those involved in illegal drug trafficking.

Nana Abroso also expressed disappointment at what he described as a lack of adequate action from some authorities and urged citizens to take an active role in safeguarding the youth.

“This crisis demands urgent and collective action from all sectors of society,” he added.

The dedication service, which was a spiritual milestone for the church community, also served as a platform to address pressing social issues affecting the Prestea Himan area and Ghana at large.

In his sermon, Pastor Aeron Tetteh Nartey of the Church of Pentecost, Prestea Himan District, commended Nana Abroso for his dedication to community welfare and church support.

He encouraged Christians to lead by example, stressing that genuine faith must be reflected in one’s actions.

“We are called to serve sincerely and not to exploit the gospel for personal gain,” Pastor Nartey reminded the congregation.

The event united religious leaders, local officials, and community members in a shared commitment to promote moral values and combat drug abuse among the youth.
