MTN Ghana has once again demonstrated its leadership in the nation’s digital transformation agenda by reaffirming its commitment to building a fully connected and inclusive digital future. The company’s Chief Digital Officer, Mr. Ibrahim Misto, made this known while delivering a goodwill message at the 30th Africa Internet Summit held in Accra under the theme, “Internet in Ghana, Today and Tomorrow.”

In his remarks, Mr. Misto commended the government and industry stakeholders for their collective efforts in shaping Ghana’s digital journey over the past three decades. He noted that Ghana’s Internet growth story is a testament to the country’s determination to leverage technology as a tool for progress and social inclusion.
Reflecting on MTN’s contribution to this journey, Mr. Misto said the company’s transformation mirrors the evolution of the Internet across the African continent. “The story of MTN as a business is reflective of the evolution of the Internet within Africa. Our services and infrastructure have advanced to support a wide range of innovations — from data and IoT to digital, fintech, and enterprise solutions. MTN has transitioned from a telco to a technology company,” he stated.
He highlighted that since 2021, MTN Ghana has invested over US$1 billion to modernize its network infrastructure, expand 4G coverage, and extend fibre connectivity to homes and businesses across the country. This massive investment, he said, underscores MTN’s unwavering commitment to ensuring reliable, fast, and accessible Internet for all Ghanaians, regardless of their location.
Mr. Misto also emphasized the impact of MTN’s Mobile Money (MoMo) platform, which now serves over 17 million customers nationwide. He explained that the platform has become a critical enabler of financial inclusion, empowering millions of Ghanaians with access to digital financial services and contributing significantly to the nation’s digital economy.
Looking to the future, the Chief Digital Officer called for greater collaboration among government, industry players, civil society, and young innovators to accelerate Ghana’s digital transformation. “We envision an Internet ecosystem that is faster, smarter, and more inclusive. Through the government’s robust digital agenda, Ghana is poised to lead Africa’s digital future. But this future must be built together — through collective innovation and shared responsibility,” he urged.
Mr. Misto reaffirmed that MTN Ghana remains steadfast in its mission to lead digital solutions for Africa’s progress. The company, he said, will continue to invest heavily in connectivity, digital literacy, platforms, and innovation hubs that empower the next generation to thrive in a connected world.

He concluded by assuring that MTN’s long-term vision aligns perfectly with Ghana’s ambition to become a digital powerhouse in Africa. “Our mission is to build a resilient Internet ecosystem that reflects the values of access, equity, and opportunity for all. Together, we can shape a digital future that leaves no one behind,” he added.
The Africa Internet Summit, which brought together government officials, telecommunications executives, Internet service providers, tech innovators, and policy experts, served as a key platform for discussing the future of digital connectivity in Ghana and across the continent.
