MTN Ghana Partners LEC Group to Empower Young Leaders at KNUST’s 2025 National Youth Summit

In a bold step towards grooming Ghana’s next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs, MTN Ghana, in partnership with the Leadership Empowerment Club (LEC Group), successfully held the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) edition of the 2025 National Youth Empowerment Summit and Awards. The highly anticipated event took place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Law Faculty Auditorium, drawing hundreds of passionate and enthusiastic students.

This year’s summit, the fourth in the series since its inception, centered on the theme of youth empowerment through practical skill development, mentorship, entrepreneurship, and leadership training. It brought together distinguished speakers and professionals from reputable institutions including MTN Ghana, GCB PLC Bank, InvestCorp, and Bel Beverages Company Limited.

The event aligns perfectly with MTN Ghana’s broader youth-focused vision, which aims to support young people across the country with mentorship, digital literacy, entrepreneurship coaching, and career guidance. The goal is to close the digital and skills gap while equipping the youth with tools to create successful futures for themselves and their communities.

Summit Highlights

The summit featured engaging and inspiring presentations that touched on key areas such as investment strategies, leadership, networking, discovering one’s life purpose, cultivating a grateful mindset, and pushing beyond comfort zones to achieve personal and professional goals.

One of the major highlights was a captivating presentation by Rosemary Atta Konadu, Head of Retail Shop at MTN Ghana, who challenged participants to “STRETCH” beyond their limitations. According to her, many young people settle for mediocrity and fail to maximize their potential due to a lack of effort and discipline.

“Most youth are too comfortable in their zones. They want to make it in life but don’t want to go the extra mile,” she stated.

Breaking down the STRETCH concept, she emphasized the importance of:

  • Sensitivity to time management
  • Taking action and executing learned skills
  • Resourcefulness in maximizing available opportunities
  • Engaging in meaningful collaborations
  • Targeting clear goals
  • Courage to face uncertainty
  • Hope and belief in a brighter future.

Her message resonated strongly with the audience, many of whom noted the importance of having a clear sense of purpose and discipline to achieve excellence.

Call to Invest Early

Albert Prempeh Kusi, the Chief Executive Officer of LEC Group and convener of the summit, delivered a powerful session focused on financial literacy and investment. He urged students to develop the habit of saving and investing a portion of every income they earn.

“Don’t wait until you have plenty before you start investing. Start with whatever little comes your way. The discipline of saving and investing will position you to build wealth over time,” he advised.

He decried the widespread attitude among youth of spending every cedi they receive, cautioning that such habits were a major cause of poverty and financial instability among many young Africans.

“Many Africans are broke because they don’t plan their finances. If you spend all the money that comes your way, you are digging a financial hole for your future,” he warned.

Broader Impact

Participants of the summit left deeply motivated and equipped with actionable knowledge to apply in their academic, career, and personal lives. The event also served as a platform for networking, where students engaged with industry professionals and received one-on-one mentorship on various career paths.

The National Youth Empowerment Summit is expected to continue its journey to other tertiary institutions across the country, as LEC Group and its partners remain committed to transforming Ghana’s youth through education, empowerment, and enterprise.

The event at KNUST reaffirmed the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in shaping a future-ready generation—one that is not only visionary but also intentional about growth, investment, and impact.
