Telecommunications giant MTN Ghana has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to community support and religious inclusivity by extending its annual Ramadan donation to the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration.

The company donated assorted food items, beverages, and a ram, alongside a cash contribution of GH¢10,000, to support the Muslim community as they prepare to conclude the holy month of Ramadan. The items presented included bags of rice, cooking oil, sugar, bottled water, and soft drinks, all aimed at easing the burden of the festive period for beneficiaries.

This year’s gesture forms part of MTN Ghana’s nationwide Ramadan support initiative, which saw similar donations made simultaneously to the National Chief Imam and Regional Chief Imams across the Ashanti, Western, and Northern Regions on Tuesday,17 March 26.
In the Ashanti Region, a brief but symbolic presentation ceremony was held at the forecourt of the Central Mosque. Officials of MTN Ghana formally handed over the items to Ustaz Ahmed Seidu Executive Secretary to the Regional Chief Imam, on behalf of the Muslim leadership.

Presenting the items, Mr. Simon Amoh, Senior Manager for General Trade at MTN Northern Ghana, highlighted the longstanding and mutually beneficial relationship between MTN Ghana and the Muslim community. He emphasized that as a proudly African company, MTN embraces diversity and remains committed to supporting all religious groups across the country.

According to him, the Ramadan donation has become an integral part of the company’s corporate social responsibility efforts, aimed at showing appreciation to the Muslim community for their continued patronage and support over the years.

“We are grateful to the Muslim community for their loyalty to the MTN brand. As they mark the end of their fasting period, we will also be present at their prayer grounds to provide customer service support and celebrate with them,” Mr. Amoh stated.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Muslim community, Ustaz Ahmed Seidu, Executive Secretary to the Regional Chief Imam, expressed profound appreciation to MTN Ghana for its consistent and generous support during Ramadan.
He commended the company for sustaining what he described as a meaningful and impactful tradition, noting that such gestures go a long way to strengthen the bond between corporate institutions and religious communities.

Muslims around the world observe Eid-ul-Fitr as a period of thanksgiving, charity, and celebration following a month of fasting, prayer, and reflection. MTN Ghana’s continued support over the years underscores its dedication to promoting social cohesion and uplifting communities across the country.
