MTN Ghana Extends 14-Year Christmas Tradition with Hampers for Newborn Babies

In a heartwarming display of love and social responsibility, MTN Ghana has continued its 14-year tradition of spreading joy during the Christmas festivities by distributing 700 hampers to babies born on Christmas Day, 25th December 2025. The annual initiative, aimed at showing appreciation to mothers and celebrating new life, has become a much-anticipated gesture across the country.

This year, MTN Ghana personnel visited selected hospitals and clinics across the 16 regions, including Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and Kumasi Children’s Hospital at Adum Pampas, to personally deliver the hampers, which are filled with a variety of essential items for newborns.

Speaking to journalists on Friday, 26th December 2025, Mr. Obed Adu-Amankwaah, Area Sales Manager for the Ashanti, Ahafo, and Bono East regions, explained that a total of 700 hampers were distributed nationwide. Out of this, 310 hampers were shared among hospitals in the northern sector, Ashanti, Ahafo, and Bono East regions.

Mr. Adu-Amankwaah emphasized the significance of the initiative, saying, “For 14 years now, MTN Ghana has undertaken this gesture to show love to mothers who welcome newborns on Christmas Day. Christmas is all about sharing love and spreading joy, and through this initiative, we aim to bring smiles to both mothers and their families.”

The annual initiative has consistently received overwhelming appreciation from both beneficiaries and health personnel. Mrs. Dorcas Asamoah Nyamekye, Nurse Manager of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unit at KATH, expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the hospital and beneficiaries. She said, “We truly appreciate MTN Ghana for supporting mothers of Christmas-born babies. We encourage them to continue this initiative, even quarterly if possible, as many expectant mothers greatly need support during childbirth.”

Mrs. Nyamekye also urged other corporate organizations to emulate MTN Ghana’s exemplary gesture by supporting mothers and newborns in hospitals across the country.

During the distribution, the joy and gratitude of the mothers were palpable, with smiles and excitement filling the hospital wards as they received the surprise hampers. This initiative not only underscores MTN Ghana’s commitment to social responsibility but also reinforces the spirit of love, care, and community support that defines the festive season.
