MTN Ghana Expands Network Capacity with GH¢1 Billion Investment Drive

MTN Ghana has reinforced its leadership in the telecommunications industry with a major GH¢1 billion investment dedicated to expanding and strengthening its network infrastructure across the country. The announcement was made during the company’s Regional Stakeholders’ Forum held in Wa on October 21, 2025, where MTN executives assured customers and community leaders of their continuous commitment to delivering a stronger and more reliable network nationwide.
The engagement brought together traditional authorities, government officials, business owners, media practitioners, and civil society representatives to discuss how MTN’s network services could better respond to local demands while supporting connectivity for social and economic growth.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Joseph Dogbe, Chief Risk and Compliance Officer at Scancom PLC (MTN Ghana), disclosed that the telecommunications giant has invested more than GH¢1 billion in network infrastructure over the last five years. He added that GH¢240 million has been allocated in 2025 alone to further expand the company’s fibre and 4G capacity in readiness for the rollout of 5G technology.
Mr. Dogbe explained that the continuous investment is part of MTN’s long-term strategy to enhance network stability, improve coverage quality, and ensure seamless connectivity across both urban and rural areas. He said that MTN is committed to ensuring that customers everywhere in Ghana experience high-speed internet, clear voice calls, and reliable service delivery without interruptions.
He emphasized that network reliability is at the heart of MTN’s operations, adding that the company is currently upgrading transmission lines, expanding base stations, and installing additional towers in hard-to-reach communities to address connectivity challenges. He noted that the focus of MTN’s investment drive is to modernize its network systems and extend coverage to areas that have historically lacked stable service.
Mr. Dogbe reaffirmed that the company’s operations are anchored on efficiency, transparency, and accountability. He stated that MTN Ghana will continue to prioritize technical excellence and customer satisfaction, maintaining its position as the country’s most dependable network provider.

In her remarks, Madam Efua Falconer, Corporate Communications Manager at MTN Ghana, commended residents of the Upper West Region for their unwavering support and loyalty throughout MTN’s fifteen years of operation in the area. She said the Wa engagement was part of a nationwide stakeholder series aimed at collecting feedback from customers and partners on how to improve network quality and service accessibility.
Madam Falconer assured the gathering that MTN’s network improvement projects are ongoing in all regions, with significant progress already made in upgrading existing sites and adding new ones to enhance connectivity. She said the company remains committed to maintaining its reputation as Ghana’s most reliable telecommunications network, ensuring that customers enjoy uninterrupted service “everywhere you go.”
The Wa Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Issah Nurah Danwanaa, commended MTN Ghana for its substantial contribution to communication infrastructure development in the region. He acknowledged that improved network access has boosted education, business operations, and public service delivery. However, he appealed to MTN to decentralize its customer service operations by establishing satellite offices across the municipality to reduce congestion at the main Wa service centre and make service delivery more convenient.
Media practitioners who participated in the forum praised MTN Ghana for its responsiveness to customer concerns and called for continuous updates on network upgrades and expansion projects. They also encouraged stronger collaboration between MTN and local communities to ensure that network improvements meet regional needs.
The stakeholder engagement ended on a positive note, with participants expressing appreciation for MTN Ghana’s massive investment and sustained efforts to strengthen the country’s telecommunications infrastructure. Stakeholders described MTN’s initiative as a testament to its leadership and reliability in providing superior network services.
With its GH¢1 billion network investment drive and continued focus on infrastructure expansion, MTN Ghana remains firmly committed to delivering high-quality connectivity across every corner of the country. The company’s vision of providing a strong, fast, and dependable network continues to guide its mission to keep Ghanaians connected — truly living up to its promise of “everywhere you go.”
