MTN Ghana has launched DigiFest 2025, a month-long festival of digital innovation that highlights the company’s commitment to empowering young people and advancing the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in Ghana. The festival reflects MTN’s ambition to build a bold, inclusive, and digitally enabled society where youth are positioned as key drivers of transformation.

The grand launch in Accra drew together technology leaders, policymakers, partners, innovators, and students for an immersive celebration of MTN’s growing digital ecosystem. The event was a blend of high-level discussions, live product demonstrations, and interactive digital experiences.

Stephen Blewett, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, said DigiFest is both a celebration of MTN’s achievements and a bold declaration of its vision for the future. He stressed that MTN’s role goes beyond telecommunications, positioning the company as a digital solutions leader that is actively shaping Ghana’s digital economy. He disclosed that MTN has invested more than one billion dollars in digital infrastructure over the past five years, with an additional two hundred and forty million dollars committed this year. He also pointed to youth-focused initiatives, including the ongoing construction of a twenty-five million-dollar ICT Hub and the MTN Digital Skills Academy, as investments in building the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs.

Ibrahim Misto, Chief Digital Officer of MTN Ghana, focused his remarks on the transformative power of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. He explained that AI is rapidly reshaping industries, business models, and skill requirements, making it essential for Ghanaian youth to embrace and master these technologies. He also drew attention to the growing influence of mobile gaming, describing it as more than a leisure activity. According to him, mobile gaming has become a powerful platform for creativity, entrepreneurship, and international competition, enabling Ghana’s youth to showcase their talent and innovation on the global stage.

DigiFest 2025 has been carefully curated to combine education, innovation, and entertainment throughout the month. It will feature AI-focused community sessions targeting university students and faculty, hackathons centered on user experience and design, and digital learning activities that provide practical exposure to emerging technologies. The festival also offers interactive experiences such as live demonstrations of the myMTN App, gaming stations, Spin the Wheel engagements, and weekly tech quiz competitions that make learning rewarding and fun.
In addition, the festival creates a platform for leading technology partners, including Samsung, Huawei, Unotelos, Abena AI, and Smart Home solutions, to showcase cutting-edge products and innovations that reflect the digital future MTN is championing.

DigiFest 2025 is fully aligned with MTN’s Ambition 2025 strategy, which seeks to lead digital solutions for Africa’s progress. By investing in infrastructure, promoting artificial intelligence adoption, and empowering young innovators, MTN Ghana is driving forward its mission of building an inclusive digital society. DigiFest 2025 is not just a festival of technology but a platform for youth empowerment, creativity, and opportunity, positioning Ghana at the forefront of Africa’s digital transformation.
