Mr. Kofi Job Gyebi Joins Otumfuo to Mourn Daasebre Osei Bonsu II

The Co-Founder of the Kofi Job Foundation, Mr. Kofi Job Gyebi, joined Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and a host of dignitaries and traditional leaders in mourning the late Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, the revered Paramount Chief of the Asante Mampong Traditional Area.

The final funeral rites, held in Asante Mampong in the Ashanti Region, brought together thousands of mourners from all walks of life who gathered to pay tribute to a respected royal figure whose life embodied wisdom, dignity, and exceptional service to Asanteman and Ghana as a whole.

Mr. Gyebi, a renowned road contractor and philanthropist, was given a hero’s welcome upon his arrival in Mampong. His presence at the ceremony was a strong symbol of the deep reverence he holds for Ghana’s traditional institutions, and particularly for the late Daasebre, whom he described as “a leader whose words carried the weight of generations.”

In a solemn yet dignified atmosphere, Mr. Gyebi stood in unity with Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the elders of the Asante Kingdom to honour the memory and legacy of a chief whose leadership spanned decades and whose influence extended beyond the traditional realm into national development.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the event, Mr. Kofi Job Gyebi reflected on the late chief’s lasting impact:

> “Daasebre Osei Bonsu II was not only a paramount chief; he was a moral compass, a pillar of unity and a symbol of our heritage. His passing is a great loss, not just to Mampong but to all of Ghana.”

As Co-Founder of the Kofi Job Foundation, Mr. Gyebi has long championed causes aligned with development, social equity, and respect for tradition. The Foundation has spearheaded numerous philanthropic projects including scholarships for brilliant but needy students, medical outreach programs, road infrastructure support, and youth empowerment initiatives—many of which directly impact traditional communities.

His attendance at the funeral was not merely ceremonial but was regarded by many as a reflection of his sincere connection to the cultural and social fabric of the Ashanti Region. Chiefs, elders, and youth alike expressed appreciation for his consistent engagement with traditional leaders and grassroots communities.

The funeral of Daasebre Osei Bonsu II was a historic event, marked by colourful traditional rites, drumming, cultural displays, and heartfelt tributes. It served as a reminder of the invaluable role traditional rulers play in community leadership, dispute resolution, and development.

Mr. Gyebi’s involvement in the occasion emphasized the importance of preserving and respecting chieftaincy and customs, especially at a time when modernization continues to challenge traditional values.

Through the Kofi Job Foundation, Mr. Gyebi remains committed to supporting initiatives that uplift Ghanaian society while preserving its unique identity. His presence at Daasebre Osei Bonsu II’s funeral was therefore more than a personal tribute—it was a reaffirmation of his dedication to unity, tradition, and community service.

As the people of Mampong and Asanteman bid farewell to a remarkable chief, the continued support of individuals like Mr. Kofi Job Gyebi offers hope that the legacy of leadership and compassion will live on.
