Job creation through industrialization is a critical policy issue in Ghana, as the country’s industrial sector is currently facing significant challenges. These challenges include issues such as business financing, the cost of doing business, export development, energy for industry, entrepreneurship and business development, industrial development initiatives, domestic trade and consumer protection, trade facilitation, interest rates, and the exchange rate of the Cedi. In order to address these challenges and promote job creation through industrialization, the All People’s Congress (APC) has put forward a comprehensive plan that includes a range of policy measures.
One of the key policy proposals put forward by the APC is the restructuring of general taxes and levies on businesses to reduce pre-production costs. This includes measures such as removing import duties on raw materials and machinery for selected strategic industries, as well as reducing taxes on electricity consumption. By reducing these costs, the APC aims to make it easier for businesses to operate and expand, thereby creating more job opportunities for Ghanaians.
In addition, the APC has proposed offering tax credit incentives to businesses that employ fresh graduates. This is aimed at encouraging businesses to hire young, talented individuals who are entering the workforce for the first time. By providing incentives for businesses to hire fresh graduates, the APC hopes to address the issue of youth unemployment and provide young people with valuable work experience.
Another key aspect of the APC’s industrialization policy is the promotion of the supply of energy in support of production-related activities. The party plans to create dedicated quality and reliable energy supply sources for industrial enclaves and zones, as well as provide incentive schemes for the development of specific renewable energy projects for industrial development. By ensuring a stable and affordable energy supply for businesses, the APC aims to support the growth of the industrial sector and create more job opportunities for Ghanaians.
Furthermore, the APC has proposed providing specific incentives for the production and supply of quality locally produced non-agricultural raw materials for industry at competitive prices. This is aimed at promoting the use of locally sourced materials in industrial production, thereby supporting local businesses and creating more job opportunities within the country.
Additionally, the APC has outlined a comprehensive program of support for the cultivation of selected agricultural products as raw materials for agro-processing. By focusing on the cultivation of key agricultural products such as tomatoes, cassava, cocoa, maize, palm oil, cashew, cotton, fruits, groundnuts, and rice, the party aims to support the development of the agro-processing industry and create more job opportunities in rural areas.
The APC’s policy on job creation through industrialization offers a comprehensive and strategic approach to addressing the challenges facing Ghana’s industrial sector. By implementing measures such as tax incentives, energy support, and agricultural development programs, the party aims to promote the growth of the industrial sector and create more job opportunities for Ghanaians. Therefore, I urge all Ghanaians to vote for the APC and its visionary leader, Dr. Hassan Ayariga, as the next president of Ghana, in order to support the country’s industrialization and job creation efforts.
