The Member of Parliament for Jomoro constituency in the Western region, hon Dorcas Afo-Toffey has donated 7 sewing machines to 7 female seamstresses in her constituency to enable them to start their own businesses.
Donating the machines on behalf of the MP, Mr. Ahmed Adams mentioned that the gesture followed a promise made by the MP to her constituents that she will support female Artisans to start their own businesses.
The donation was carried out after the female beneficiaries had gone through a three-year training in dressmaking.
The 20th graduation ceremony was organized by the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association at Elubo on Sunday 26th September, 2021.
Presenting the machines, Mr. Ahmed Adams said, the Jomoro member of parliament was delighted to contribute towards the future development of the young females in the area.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Adams said the donation was also part of the MP efforts to empower as well as to form a startup package to the newly graduate in the constituency.
He counseled the recipients to put the equipment to good use in order to transform lives in their communities.
The chairman of the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association, Elubo zone Mr Stephen Ebo Bosco thanked the MP for the prompt response and promises that his members will work hard to better their lives by becoming financially independent in their finances.
He stressed that, the association will continue to support the MP in prayers in all her efforts geared towards the development of Jomoro.
