Motorbike Thief Lynched to Death at Awutu Bawjiase as Angry Youth Cut Off His Testicles

A suspected motorbike thief met a brutal and tragic end at Awutu Bawjiase in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region after an angry mob descended on him and mutilated his body, cutting off his testicles before he later died at a health facility.
According to reports, the deceased and an accomplice, both unidentified as of the time of reporting, allegedly hired a commercial motorcycle rider (popularly known as Okada) from Esikaso in the Eastern Region under the pretense of needing transport to Awutu Bawjiase. However, upon reaching the outskirts of the town, the duo turned on the rider, attacked him with a stick, and made away with the motorbike.
The victim, though injured, managed to seek help from another Okada rider and together they launched a swift pursuit of the suspects. The dramatic chase ended on the Bawjiase-Okwampa road, where one of the alleged thieves was eventually caught by the group of pursuing riders, while the second suspect managed to escape on foot.
In an interview with Angel News, the Assembly Member for the Bawjiase-Mankesim Electoral Area, Mr. Isaac Amoaquandoh, confirmed the incident and explained that the apprehended suspect was subjected to severe physical assault by the furious Okada riders and some community members. In a shocking turn of events, the mob reportedly cut off the suspect’s testicles during the attack.
Mr. Amoaquandoh added that the Awutu Bawjiase Police Command arrived at the scene and managed to rescue the severely injured suspect from further beatings. He was immediately rushed to the Awutu Bawjiase Polyclinic for emergency treatment. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The Awutu Bawjiase District Police Command has since confirmed the lynching, stating that investigations have commenced into the matter. Authorities are also making efforts to identify and apprehend those involved in the mob action, as well as track down the fugitive accomplice.
This latest act of mob justice has once again raised alarm over the increasing trend of instant justice meted out by residents in some parts of the country. Human rights advocates and law enforcement officials have continuously warned against such practices, urging citizens to report crimes to the police rather than take the law into their own hands.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at a morgue for preservation and autopsy, while the police continue with their investigations.
