A young lady identified as Mrs. Blessing Eno has reportedly beheaded her 11-month baby for disturbing her sleep.
The incident was said to have happened in the Yonen community, Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River.
The incident has left residents of the community in shock over the circumstances that led to the slaughtering of the baby. According to Mrs. Blessing Eno, a “Spirit” asked her to do it.
Sources disclosed to the police that the mother of two who may be suffering from Schizophrenia (Mental Disorder) took out a matchet and slaughtered her baby claiming that the child was disturbing her and a spirit instructed her to slaughter the boy.
An eyewitness also disclosed that the 8-year-old son of the woman was the first to bump into the headless body of his brother with her mother drenched with blood who raised the alarm that attracted neighbors to the scene of the crime.
The police were said to have intervened early to arrest the woman; saying her from the angry mob who were keen to set her ablaze.
The Obol Lopon of Ugep and Paramount Ruler of Yakurr LGA, HRM. Obol Ofem Ubana Eteng, has expressed shock over the tragic incident and has asked the police to investigate the matter.
