MobileMoney LTD Boss, Shaibu Haruna, Crowned Fintech CEO of the Year
The Chief Executive Officer of MobileMoney LTD, Mr. Shaibu Haruna, has been adjudged the CEO of the Year – Fintech at the 4th Ghana CEO Vision and Awards held at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra. This high-profile recognition celebrates his exceptional leadership, innovation, and his transformative contributions to Ghana’s financial technology (fintech) landscape.
The Ghana CEO Vision and Awards, organised by Globe Productions Ltd, honours outstanding chief executives across over 30 industries who are championing visionary leadership and measurable impact in both the private and public sectors.
Since assuming the leadership of MobileMoney LTD in 2022, Mr. Haruna has successfully steered the company—an MTN Ghana subsidiary—to greater heights in digital financial services. Under his guidance, MobileMoney LTD has not only strengthened its market leadership but also accelerated Ghana’s financial inclusion agenda by expanding access to secure, user-friendly, and innovative mobile financial services.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Haruna expressed deep gratitude to the organisers and his team, stating, “This recognition is a testament to the incredible work of the MobileMoney LTD team and the entire MTN Ghana team. With over 25 years of commercial experience across Africa and the Middle East, Mr. Haruna is regarded as a seasoned executive with a proven track record of delivering results across multiple sectors including Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), Automobile, Financial Services, E-Commerce, and Telecommunications.
The last 18 years of his career have been focused on telecommunications and digital services, where he has successfully led market expansion and business transformation initiatives in Ghana, Uganda, South Africa, and Saudi Arabia. Notably, he was behind the highly rated distribution model for MTN Ghana, which has since become a benchmark across MTN Group markets.
Since its inception in 2009, MobileMoney LTD has remained at the forefront of digital payments in Ghana. The company continues to innovate and drive economic empowerment by providing reliable, fast, and secure mobile money services to millions of Ghanaians, from urban centers to rural communities.
