MJ Asabil Farms CEO Commends Government on Poultry Feed Price Cut, Calls for Long-Term Stability

Mr. Moses Jackson Asabil, Chief Executive Officer of MJ Asabil Farms Limited, has commended the government for its recent reduction in poultry feed costs, describing the measure as a timely relief for poultry farmers in the country.

Speaking on the impact of the price cut, Mr. Asabil noted that while the reduction is welcome, the poultry industry faces challenges whenever feed prices fluctuate. He therefore urged the government to ensure that the current feed prices are sustained over a longer period to enable farmers to plan effectively and maintain profitability.

“Sometimes the cost of poultry feed reduces, but it doesn’t last long in the system. We appeal to the government to stabilize the feed prices so that our businesses can survive and thrive,” he said.

In addition to feed costs, Mr. Asabil highlighted the urgent need to address the deplorable road network in the area. He explained that poor roads hinder the transportation of poultry products, increase operational costs, and limit the growth potential of businesses in the region.

Staffing challenges also remain a concern for MJ Asabil Farms, with Mr. Asabil noting that most of his employees are sourced from the local community. While this supports local employment, it has sometimes posed operational difficulties for the farm.

His remarks underscore the critical role of government support in ensuring the sustainability of the poultry sector, not only through stable feed pricing but also through infrastructure development and workforce planning.
