The Chief Executive Officer of Smart Mickey Mining Company, Mr. Michael Akwasi Owusu—affectionately called Lion—has pledged his support towards strengthening the operations of the Ghana Police Service in the Bekwai Division of the Ashanti Region.
In a bid to improve security within the region, Mr. Owusu has donated a brand-new pickup vehicle to the Bekwai Divisional Police Command. The donation, he believes, will enhance the mobility and efficiency of the police in responding to emergencies and maintaining law and order.
Speaking to Oyerepa News during the presentation ceremony, Mr. Owusu underscored the vital role of community members in supporting the nation’s security agencies. He noted that ensuring safety and peace in the community should not rest solely on government, but must be a shared responsibility.
“As a businessman and a member of this community, I believe it is my duty to contribute towards building a secure environment. We all benefit when our communities are safe,” he stated.
Beyond security, Mr. Owusu also announced his intention to invest in social development initiatives, including the construction of a police station, health centre, and educational facilities in underserved areas within the Bekwai enclave.
He emphasized that giving back to society is at the core of his values and encouraged others in privileged positions to follow suit.
The Bekwai Divisional Police Command and community leaders expressed gratitude for the donation, describing it as a timely intervention that will go a long way to improve security operations in the area.
