The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori-Agyemang Boadi, has set out a clear and forward-looking strategic agenda for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) during a New Year engagement with management, aimed at positioning the metropolis for improved service delivery and sustainable development in the year ahead.
The meeting, held at the Assembly, brought together key management staff and heads of departments, and was attended by the Metropolitan Coordinating Director, Mr. Francis Dwira Darko. It provided a platform for management to reflect on institutional priorities, align departmental plans, and recommit to the Assembly’s overall development agenda.
In his address, Hon. Ofori-Agyemang Boadi identified sanitation as a top priority for the metropolis, stressing that a clean and orderly Kumasi is essential for public health, environmental protection, tourism and investment attraction. He urged departments responsible for environmental health and waste management to intensify their efforts and collaborate effectively to address sanitation challenges across the city.
The Mayor also underscored the importance of staff welfare and motivation, describing human resources as the backbone of the Assembly. He assured staff of management’s commitment to improving working conditions and fostering a supportive environment that encourages professionalism, discipline and dedication to duty.
A major highlight of the engagement was the call for the Assembly to fully leverage the digital space to enhance efficiency, transparency and communication. Hon. He further emphasized the need to strategically market the numerous economic opportunities within the metropolis to attract both local and foreign investment.
The Metropolitan Coordinating Director, Mr. Francis Dwira Darko, in his remarks, emphasized the need for effective coordination among departments and strict alignment of annual work plans with the Mayor’s vision. He urged heads of departments to ensure that their programmes and activities contribute directly to the Assembly’s development priorities and deliver measurable results.
Following the meeting, the Mayor and the Coordinating Director embarked on a tour of selected offices and departments under the Assembly. The tour enabled management to interact directly with staff, convey New Year goodwill messages, and assess the operational and logistical needs of various departments. Staff were also encouraged to offer their full support towards the realization of the Assembly’s goals.
During the engagement, heads of departments presented brief outlines of their planned activities for the year, highlighting how their initiatives align with the Assembly’s strategic direction. Management reaffirmed its commitment to teamwork, accountability and performance-driven leadership in delivering quality services to residents of Kumasi.
The New Year engagement marked a strong start to the year for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, reinforcing its resolve to improve sanitation, enhance staff welfare, embrace digital innovation and position Kumasi as a prime hub for investment and development.
