Manso Nkwanta MP, Hon. Tweneboa Kodua Fokuo, Launches Education Scholarship Scheme to Support Students

The Member of Parliament for Manso Nkwanta, Hon. Tweneboa Kodua Fokuo, has officially launched the Manso Nkwanta Education Scholarship Scheme, an initiative aimed at supporting students across the constituency. The launch, held at Mansoman Senior High School, brought together the District Chief Executive, representatives of traditional authorities, religious leaders, education officials, teachers, parents, guardians, and students.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Fokuo described the launch as a defining moment in the constituency’s journey, emphasizing the need for every child in Manso Nkwanta to have access to quality education, regardless of background or circumstance.

“Education is not merely about certificates. It is about empowerment. It is about unlocking potential, shaping character, building confidence, and equipping our people with the skills and values required to contribute meaningfully to society,” he said. He further noted that communities that invest deliberately in education secure long-term prosperity, stability, and leadership, while those that neglect it face lost opportunities, unemployment, and social vulnerability.

Hon. Fokuo explained that the scholarship scheme was introduced in response to the financial challenges facing many students in the constituency. “Some students defer admission year after year. Some drop out midway through their programmes. Others struggle silently, burdened by fees, accommodation costs, and basic living expenses. This scholarship scheme is our response to that reality,” he stated.

The scheme focuses on tertiary students, providing financial assistance to help cover tuition and other essential academic expenses. Hon. Fokuo expressed the hope that beneficiaries will excel academically and uphold values of service, discipline, and integrity. He also confirmed that Senior High School students, particularly those from vulnerable families, will receive targeted financial support to cover costs such as textbooks, learning materials, transportation, and personal upkeep.

He assured constituents that the scholarship programme would be administered with fairness, transparency, and accountability. “Clear eligibility criteria will be applied. Selection processes will be open and inclusive. The goal is to ensure that support reaches those who genuinely deserve it, irrespective of background, religion, or political affiliation. Education unites us. It must never be politicized,” Hon. Fokuo said.

Addressing students directly, he said: “This support is not an entitlement—it is an opportunity. Use it wisely. Study diligently. Uphold discipline and good moral values. And remember that your success is not only personal—it is a victory for your family, your community, and Manso Nkwanta as a whole.”

Hon. Fokuo concluded by highlighting that the scholarship scheme is part of a broader strategy to strengthen education in the constituency, including improving teacher welfare, refurbishing school facilities, and promoting mentorship programmes. He reaffirmed his commitment to making education the backbone of development in Manso Nkwanta.

“May God bless you all. May God bless Manso Nkwanta. And may God bless our dear nation, Ghana,” he said.
