Manso Akwasiso Chief, Assembly Member, and Residents Lead Massive Cleanup Exercise

The Chief of Manso Akwasiso, Nana Kwakye Gyimah Yeboah, in collaboration with the Assembly Member for Akwasiso Electoral Area, Hon. Stephen Nsiah Kesse, and residents, has spearheaded a massive cleanup exercise to improve sanitation in the community.

The exercise, held in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region, saw community members clearing gutters, sweeping the streets, and disposing of waste to ensure a cleaner environment.

Speaking to the media, Nana Kwakye Gyimah Yeboah urged other communities in the district to emulate their initiative to promote hygiene and environmental sustainability. He also called on the government to provide essential sanitation tools such as dustbins, shovels, gloves, and wheelbarrows to facilitate effective waste management.

The chief further admonished Ghanaians to refrain from indiscriminate dumping of refuse, especially in gutters during the rainy season, as it leads to flooding and environmental pollution. Additionally, he appealed to the government to accelerate the appointment of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to ensure effective governance and development. He also called for urgent attention to the deplorable road network in Manso, which continues to hamper movement and economic activities.

Hon. Stephen Nsiah Kesse, on his part, highlighted some of the pressing issues facing his electoral area, including the lack of electricity extensions to certain parts of the community. He encouraged residents to take an active role in community development and sanitation efforts.

Some residents, including Chairman Sika Gari, who played a key role in the cleanup exercise, commended the initiative and urged community members to always take responsibility for keeping their environment clean.

The successful exercise demonstrated the power of collective action in addressing sanitation challenges and promoting a healthier living environment in Manso Akwasiso.
