Manso Adubia SHS Cries for Completion of Toilet Project to Safeguard Students’ Health

The management, staff, and students of Manso Adubia Senior High School in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region have made an urgent appeal for the speedy completion of a toilet facility project on their campus to safeguard the health and well-being of the students.

According to the students, the absence of a proper and adequate toilet facility on the campus poses a serious health risk to them and undermines effective teaching and learning. They lamented that the school had already begun the construction of a toilet facility, but the project had stalled for some time, leaving them in a difficult situation.

“We are really suffering because of the lack of a proper toilet facility. The project started some time ago, but it has not been completed. We appeal to the government, stakeholders, and our past students to help us finish it so that we can have a more hygienic and comfortable environment,” some of the students said.

The students stressed that the current situation does not only affect their health but also their dignity as learners, pointing out that unhygienic conditions on campus make it difficult for them to concentrate fully on their studies. They noted that if the project is completed, it will serve as a long-term solution to their sanitation challenges.

Adding his voice to the appeal, the Assistant Headmaster of the school, Mr. Peter Acquah, described the situation as a major concern that requires immediate intervention. He noted that the lack of a decent toilet facility for such a growing school population is unacceptable and could expose the students to preventable diseases.

Mr. Acquah further appealed to the government, the Member of Parliament for the area Hon Yaw Addo Frimpong, the District Chief Executive Hon Benjamin Marfo, stakeholders in education, and the old students of Manso Adubia SHS to support the school in constructing an ultramodern toilet facility. He emphasized that such support would not only improve sanitation on campus but also enhance effective academic work and student discipline.

He also encouraged the Old Students’ Association of Manso Adubia SHS to take particular interest in the project, noting that alumni contributions towards infrastructure development have proven critical in shaping the future of many institutions across the country.

The call by the students and management adds to a series of appeals made by the school in recent times for improved infrastructure, including teacher bungalows, science laboratories, a sick bay, and an expanded dining hall. With the population of Manso Adubia SHS continuing to grow, the Assistant Headmaster stressed that infrastructure development has become more urgent than ever.

The passionate appeal, if heeded, will go a long way to provide students with a more conducive learning environment and help prevent sanitation-related health challenges that threaten the progress of education in the school.
