Manso Adubia Senior High School (SHS) in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region has made a passionate appeal to government, stakeholders, and its past students to come to their aid by providing the school with an ultramodern and fully equipped science laboratory to improve effective teaching and learning.

According to the students, the only science laboratory available to the school lacks adequate equipment and resources to support practical studies. They explained that the population of the school continues to increase each academic year, yet the existing laboratory facilities remain inadequate to cater for the growing number of students offering science-related programmes.

“We struggle during practical lessons because the laboratory cannot serve all of us at once, and the equipment available is not sufficient for us to have meaningful experiments. We believe that if the government, old students, and other stakeholders support us with a befitting science laboratory, it will help us perform better in our academic work, especially in science subjects,” some of the students expressed.

The students further made a heartfelt appeal to past students of Manso Adubia SHS to remember their alma mater and assist in the development of the school by contributing towards the establishment of a standard science laboratory.

Adding his voice, the Assistant Headmaster of the school, Mr. Peter Acquah, reiterated the urgent need for intervention. He stressed that science education plays a vital role in national development, and therefore providing the school with a modern laboratory would not only improve the academic performance of the students but also help nurture future scientists, engineers, and innovators.

He further called on the government, benevolent organizations, philanthropists, and alumni of the school to join forces to support the institution.

“Manso Adubia Senior High School has the potential to produce excellent results and contribute to Ghana’s human resource development, but we can only achieve this if our students have access to the right tools for teaching and learning. A well-equipped science laboratory is critical in this regard, and we plead with all stakeholders to come to our aid,” Mr. Acquah emphasized.

The call by the students and management of the school highlights the broader challenges faced by many second-cycle institutions in Ghana, particularly in rural districts, where inadequate facilities hinder academic progress. It is hoped that this appeal will draw the needed attention and prompt action from government and other partners in education to support Manso Adubia SHS.
