As part of efforts to address the persistent housing challenges facing teachers in the community, the residents and indigenes of Manso Adubia have launched the 2026 Homecoming initiative, calling on natives living abroad to support the completion of the town’s teachers’ quarters.

The initiative aims to provide sustainable accommodation for teachers, a critical step towards improving teacher retention and ensuring quality education in the community. Assembly Member for Manso Adubia, Hon. Peter Awere, highlighted the difficulties educators face due to rising rents and limited housing options, a situation intensified by local mining activities. “Many of our teachers find it difficult to secure affordable accommodation, which sometimes discourages them from accepting postings or remaining long-term. Completing the teachers’ quarters will provide them with a stable and conducive living environment,” he said.

Hon. Awere noted that the 2026 Homecoming celebration offers a unique platform for indigenes, both within Ghana and abroad, to contribute financially and materially to the project. He urged all stakeholders to rally behind the initiative and invest in the welfare of teachers, who play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the community.

Also present at the launch, Hon. Dominic Bonsu, Assembly Member for Manso Takorase, emphasised the importance of collective action to support educators. “Teachers are catalysts for community development. Providing them with adequate accommodation is not just a welfare issue; it is an investment in the growth and progress of Manso Adubia,” he remarked.

The appeal to indigenes abroad forms a central part of the Homecoming initiative, encouraging returnees to reconnect with their roots while contributing to local development projects. Community leaders expressed optimism that the initiative will attract the necessary support to complete the teachers’ quarters, easing accommodation challenges and enhancing the quality of education in Manso Adubia and its surrounding areas.

With the successful completion of the project, the town expects improved teacher retention, greater stability in the education sector, and strengthened community development.
