Man on the Run After Allegedly Shooting Wife Dead in Akyerensua
Information reaching the news desk from Akyerensua in the Asutifi South District of the Ahafo Region indicates that a man believed to be in his fifties, identified as Kwaku Ananse, is currently on the run after allegedly shooting his wife to death.
The deceased has been identified as Madam Afia Pomaah, aged 48.

According to an eyewitness, Hanna Oduro, popularly known as “Mama,” who is also the daughter of the deceased, the incident followed growing tension in the household after she allegedly discovered that her stepfather had used a love spell on her mother. She said she informed other family members after becoming suspicious of changes in her mother’s behaviour and treatment within the home.
Speaking in an interview with Saint Jeff of Boss FM, Hanna Oduro explained that the family lived in the same house at Akyerensua township but occupied separate rooms. As the eldest child, she said she observed what she described as unusual treatment meted out to her mother by the suspect and noticed a sharp contrast between her mother’s previous status and her current condition.
These observations, she noted, compelled her to investigate further, leading to the discovery she later shared with the family. She alleged that she became the main target of her stepfather after raising the issue.
Following the incident, Kwaku Ananse reportedly fled the area and is currently being sought by the police. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, and police have begun efforts to locate and arrest the suspect to assist with inquiries.
Residents of Akyerensua have expressed shock over the incident and are calling on security agencies to act swiftly to bring the suspect to justice.
