The Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Awutu Bereku Police Command has detained Isaac Osei, 28, for impersonating a police officer.
He was stopped on Tuesday during normal police inspections on the Accra–Winneba Highway as he traveled from Kasoa to Winneba in a Kia Saloon car.
According to police sources, Osei claimed to be a police officer but was unable to provide his identification when asked.
The on-duty police officers were suspicious and asked him to exit the car. When his uniform was checked, it was found to bear the name “Laryea.”
Before the police could start questioning him, the guy took some SIM cards out of his phone and began to gnaw on them.
He later confessed he was not an officer and that the uniform belonged to a friend who is a police officer.
He is currently assisting the police in their investigations at the Awutu Bereku police station.
