A man is accused of killing his three children in Akatsi, north of the Volta region.
According to the report, the suspect attempted but failed to kill himself.
Per the information available, the suspect, a trained teacher, allegedly threw the children into a well.
The report from the scene revealed that the teacher, identified as Mr Kweku Dodo, 45, attempted suicide after the incident.
According to the report, the suspect committed the crime while his wife, Afia Denyiagba, 35, was away nursing their three-month-old child.
According to the story, the suspect carried the children one after the other in their sleep and dropped them into the well at dawn.
He allegedly watched them drown in the water after his act.
He then jumped into the water to die, but he realised he couldn’t bear the pain.
He then attempted suicide by hanging himself, but a resident who had come to fetch water raised an alarm to alert other residents.
He was then rescued, and the police were
informed.
The children’s bodies have since been recovered and deposited at the morgue awaiting autopsy.
Residents were shocked by the incident and questioned why the suspect did what he did
