A 22 year-old man, Osuagwu Chidubem, has been arrested by detectives of the Enugu State Police Command for allegedly murdering his Sugar Mummy and stealing her Toyota Corolla car.
A statement issued in Enugu over the weekend, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Daniel Ndukwe, and made available to newsmen said the State Command detectives serving in the Homicide Section of the State CID in Enugu, working with Police operatives in Imo State Command, on November 8, 2022, arrested Osuagwu Chidubem at Nekede, Owerri.
According to the Police image maker, the suspect was arrested while he was attempting to sell a Toyota Corolla car he stole from his older female lover, one Amarachi Chukwu, aged 32, after murdering her on November 1,2022, in her residence at Meniru, Awkunanaw, Enugu, Enugu State.
Investigation, he said, revealed that the suspect and his cohort now at large, had in the morning hours of November 1, conspired and went to the house of the victim, attempted to make away with her Toyota Corolla car.
Upon her resistance, DSP Ndukwe further stated that the suspects tied her hands, legs and mouth with clothes, locked her inside the house and made away with the car.
He stated that the decomposing remains of the victim was found in the said apartment on November 4, 2022, after the door was forced opened by the Police operatives serving in Ikirike Police Division of the Command, following the receipt of a report that an offensive odour was oozing out of the apartment.
The Operatives evacuated the remains to the hospital, where doctors confirmed her dead and the corpse deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy, the Statement further added.
The suspect, Ndukwe went on, was consequently arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation and has already been remanded in Custodial Centre custody till further hearing of the case.
