Mampong Chiefs Call for Unity and Development Ahead of New Paramount Chief’s Installation

The leadership of the Mampong Traditional Area has issued a heartfelt call for unity and collective action towards development, as the community awaits the installation of a new paramount chief. The call came during the celebration of the Akwasidae festival, where traditional leaders used the occasion to remind the people of Mampong of the power of unity in fostering progress and peace.
Nana Adu Ameyaw II, Acting President of the Mampong Traditional Council and Chief of Asante Effiduase, in a keynote address, urged the people of Mampong to set aside all forms of division and work together in the interest of their community. He emphasized that with the passing of the late Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, it is now time for the people to chart a new course that honors his legacy by promoting harmony and development.
“Unity is the foundation for any meaningful development,” Nana Adu Ameyaw II said. “As we prepare to welcome a new Omanhene, it is important that we remain focused, support each other, and rally behind the leadership of this great traditional area.”
He took the opportunity to extend his heartfelt appreciation to His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, for his guidance and leadership throughout the transition period. Nana Adu Ameyaw II also acknowledged the efforts of other traditional leaders, community elders, and residents of Mampong who supported the funeral and burial of the late paramount chief, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, with dignity and unity.
Also speaking at the event was Nana Kissi Amoah, Chief of Seniagya, who echoed the call for unity and urged the people to accept and support whoever is nominated and installed as the next paramount chief of Mampong. He stressed that development can only take root in an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect.
“We must recognize that leadership is ordained by tradition and backed by the wisdom of our forefathers. Whoever ascends the stool must be embraced wholeheartedly for the sake of the future of Mampong,” Nana Kissi Amoah noted.
The Akwasidae festival, which brought together traditional leaders, government officials, and hundreds of residents, was marked by drumming, dancing, and the display of rich Ashanti culture. The atmosphere was also filled with reflection, as many paid tribute to the late Daasebre Osei Bonsu II and looked forward to a peaceful transition.
As the search for a new Mamponghene continues, the appeal by the acting traditional authorities stands as a powerful reminder that it is only through unity, tolerance, and a shared sense of purpose that Mampong can build a stronger and more prosperous future.
