Lightning strikes kill 2

Two people died after being struck by lightning bolts in Panchagarh and Sherpur last morning.

In Panchagarh, a man died while fishing in the Karotoya River during a thundershower at Khekipara village in Sadar upazila.

Stone trader Yusuf Ali, 60, became unconscious after lightning struck him when he was fishing with some quarry workers in the morning.

Taken to Panchagarh Sadar Hospital, the duty doctor declared him dead, said Satmera Union Chairman Rabiul Islam.

In Sherpur, a farmer died when he was at a local water body to feed his ducks in Jhenaigati upazila around 11:00am.

Akbar Ali, 55, of Uttar Kanduli village, died on the spot after being struck by lightning, said Monirul Islam Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Jhenaigati Police Station.
