The Kwadaso Municipal Assembly has demonstrated its continued commitment to social inclusion and welfare by distributing items and cash support to about 50 Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) within the municipality.
The exercise, which took place on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the forecourt of the Assembly, was organized by the Social Welfare and Community Development Department with support from the Assembly. The initiative forms part of efforts to empower PWDs economically and improve their livelihoods.

At a brief ceremony to present the items, the Municipal Chief Executive, Eric Asibey, urged beneficiaries to utilize the items for their intended purposes. He cautioned against the sale or misuse of the items, emphasizing that the support was meant to enhance their economic independence and well-being.
He further explained that the items were procured from the Assembly’s share of the District Assemblies Common Fund, noting that PWDs are entitled to five percent of all quarterly releases. According to him, the items were acquired based on specific requests made by the beneficiaries to suit their individual needs.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, the Chairman of Persons Living with Disabilities in the municipality, John Nicholas Mensah, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the government and the Assembly for the intervention. He described the gesture as timely and impactful, stating that it would help alleviate the economic difficulties faced by many PWDs in the area.

The items distributed included deep freezers, industrial sewing machines, second-hand clothing, and a laptop. In addition, some beneficiaries received cash support to cater for educational and medical expenses.

The event was attended by key officials, including the Municipal Coordinating Director, Francis Adu-Boateng, the Presiding Member, Ernest Frimpong, and the Social Welfare and Community Development Director, Joyce Owusu. Also present were assembly members, heads of departments, and staff of the Social Welfare and Community Development Department, as well as other officials of the Assembly.
The initiative underscores the Assembly’s dedication to promoting inclusivity and providing targeted support to vulnerable groups within the municipality.
