The Electoral Commission of Ghana has declared Lawyer Kwabena Boateng as the winner in the internal elections organized by the governing New Patriotic Party NPP in the Ejisu Constituency ahead of the by-election scheduled for April 30,2024.
He won 394 votes ahead of his closest contender, Helena Mensah who garnered 302 votes
A total of 1035 out of the 1080 delegates showed up at the Forestry Commission Training School to cast their votes on Saturday April 13, 2024.
The declaration in the NPP’s parliamentary primary means Lawyer Kwabena Boateng will lead the NPP in the constituency as the parliamentary candidate in the pending by-election and the subsequent general elections in December 2024.
Speaking to journalists after the elections, Lawyer Kwabena Boateng pledged lead a united front for the party in the constituency to ensure the NPP retains the Ejisu Parliamentary seat in the upcoming by-election.
The New Patriotic Party held its primaries to select a candidate for the by-election after the Ejisu parliamentary seat was declared vacant following the demise of the sitting Member of Parliament, Lawyer John Ampontuah Kumah
