Kumawu MP Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim Organises Free Career Guidance, Donates Mathematical Sets to BECE Candidates, and Pledges Support for Top Performers

In a commendable demonstration of commitment to educational development, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumawu Constituency, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has organised a free career guidance programme and donated mathematical sets to all 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in the Sekyere Kumawu District.

The initiative, held under the theme “Empowering the Future Through Education,” brought together experienced facilitators who provided the final-year Junior High School (JHS) students with practical guidance on how to effectively answer BECE questions. The facilitators also offered crucial advice on selecting suitable Senior High Schools (SHSs) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

Addressing the candidates, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim stressed the importance of hard work, discipline, and integrity in academic pursuits.

“I urge you to make books your close companions. Your predecessors achieved excellent aggregates through dedication and effort—you can do the same,” he said.

He also cautioned the candidates against examination malpractice, underscoring the need for honesty and diligence.

“Work hard and make your families and communities proud. Avoid cheating and focus on building your future the right way,” he added.

To further motivate the candidates, the MP announced a special reward package for outstanding students. According to him, five top-performing students from each of the over 50 schools in the district who score between aggregates 6 and 10 will receive a full SHS prospectus and foam mattresses to ease their transition into boarding school life.

The event not only provided motivation and learning tools but also reflected Hon. Anim’s consistent dedication to education. Over the past two years, he has spearheaded several interventions, including the provision of school infrastructure, teacher incentives, and learning materials to improve teaching and learning outcomes in the constituency.

Hon. Anim also expressed his appreciation to teachers, traditional authorities (Nananom), and stakeholders for their continued contributions to education in the district.

“Our collective support ensures a brighter future for the children of Kumawu. I will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders to raise educational standards in our constituency,” he assured.

Some of the beneficiary BECE candidates expressed heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim for his kind gesture. They pledged to study hard and excel in the exams to bring honour to the district.

Also present at the event was the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere Kumawu, Hon. Akwasi Amankwaa, popularly known as “Tom Cɔ.” He encouraged the candidates to stay focused on their studies and avoid examination malpractices and unnecessary social distractions.

Hon. Amankwaa reaffirmed the full support of the Sekyere Kumawu District Assembly toward the success of the candidates and promised to reward the best-performing students after the release of the BECE results.

The programme was met with great enthusiasm from both students and educators, many of whom commended the MP and the DCE for their proactive efforts in promoting education and discipline among the youth.

As Sekyere Kumawu District prepares to present hundreds of BECE candidates this year, this timely intervention has raised hopes for improved academic performance and moral discipline across the district.
