Kumawu MP Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim Fulfils Campaign Promise with Donation of Cement and Cash to Sekyere Taxi Station Floor Renovation Project

The Member of Parliament for Kumawu, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, has made a significant contribution toward improving the Sekyere Taxi Station by donating 25 bags of cement and an additional Gh¢1,000 to support the ongoing floor renovation project. Prior to this, the MP had also provided stones and sand to help kickstart the initiative.

Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim explained that the gesture forms part of a promise he made to the Sekyere taxi drivers during his 2024 campaign. According to him, the drivers had complained that the station becomes both dusty and muddy during the dry and rainy seasons, making it uncomfortable for passengers to board taxis. “This is why I decided to support the taxi drivers in upgrading their station,” he said.

Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim noted that the Gh¢1,000 he donated would be used to hire labourers to speed up the construction process. He further assured the drivers of his continued commitment to supporting the establishment of a proper rest stop facility for both drivers and passengers in the future.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Sekyere taxi drivers, the Assembly Member for the Sekyere Electoral Area, Hon. Alex Antwi, expressed profound gratitude to the MP for his consistent support toward the development of the community. The drivers, through the Assembly Member, also appealed for further collaboration with the District Assembly to provide a drip machine to help clear weeds along their road and to establish a dedicated rest stop.

In addition to thanking the MP, Hon. Alex Antwi also pledged five hundred Ghana cedis (Gh¢500) and five bags of cement to support the ongoing project, emphasizing his own commitment to improving the working environment of drivers in the area.

The MP’s donation, together with the Assembly Member’s pledge, is widely seen as a practical and timely intervention aimed at improving working conditions for taxi drivers and enhancing convenience and safety for commuters within the Sekyere area.
