Kumawu MP Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim Empowers 300 Youths with Life-Changing Vocational Skills

Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, Member of Parliament for the Kumawu Constituency, has launched a large-scale vocational skills training programme aimed at empowering 300 young people across the constituency, as part of deliberate efforts to reduce unemployment and alleviate poverty through practical youth development.

The initiative is designed to equip beneficiaries with employable and entrepreneurial skills in areas such as dressmaking, hairdressing, plumbing, carpentry and other vocational trades. Many of the selected youths, according to organisers, have been unable to further their education or acquire technical skills due to financial challenges and limited family support, making the intervention timely and impactful.

Speaking at the launch of the programme, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim expressed deep satisfaction at the opportunity to directly transform the lives of young people in Kumawu. He stated that his vision as a legislator goes beyond parliamentary representation and focuses on empowering constituents to become self-reliant and economically productive.

According to him, sustainable development in the constituency can only be achieved when the youth are equipped with relevant skills that enable them to earn a living and contribute meaningfully to society. He emphasised that investing in human capital remains one of the most effective ways of eradicating poverty at the grassroots.

“As an MP, it is not just about being in Parliament; it is about supporting your people and ensuring that their lives improve,” Hon. Anim noted, adding that youth empowerment remains a central pillar of his development agenda for Kumawu.

The Member of Parliament further pledged his unwavering commitment to supporting education, skills training and social intervention programmes, particularly for vulnerable groups within the constituency. He mentioned people with disabilities, widows and the elderly as key beneficiaries of future initiatives aimed at promoting inclusion and social protection.

Participants in the programme expressed heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim for what they described as his consistent presence and dedication to the needs of the people. Some of the beneficiaries noted that unlike other areas where Members of Parliament are scarcely seen, the Kumawu MP remains actively engaged with his constituents and responsive to their concerns.

The vocational skills training programme is expected to not only provide immediate technical skills but also open pathways for self-employment and small-scale enterprise development, positioning the beneficiaries to become job creators rather than job seekers.

With this latest intervention, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim has once again reinforced his reputation as a people-centred leader, committed to practical development initiatives that directly impact lives and secure a better future for the youth of Kumawu.
