Kumawu Bodomase Bra Fie Festival Rekindles Unity and Renewed Commitment to Development

The people of Kumawu Bodomase have successfully celebrated this year’s Bra Fie Festival, a cherished homecoming event that brought together residents, indigenes living outside the community and key stakeholders to strengthen unity, promote cultural values and renew calls for accelerated development.

The festival attracted a large gathering and was graced by distinguished personalities, including the Member of Parliament for the Kumawu Constituency, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim; the District Chief Executive, Hon. Kwasi Amankwa; traditional leaders, opinion leaders and other invited guests, underscoring the importance of the occasion to the socio-cultural and developmental aspirations of the community.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim reaffirmed his firm commitment to the development of Kumawu Bodomase and surrounding communities. He announced that several development projects were in the pipeline, aimed at improving infrastructure and enhancing the living standards of residents. The MP assured the people of his readiness to collaborate closely with the District Chief Executive to strategically plan and implement development initiatives that would yield sustainable benefits for the district.

Hon. Yaw Anim also advised the youth to exercise restraint and responsibility during the festive period, particularly with regard to excessive alcohol consumption. He emphasized discipline and focus as key pillars for personal and community growth, and reiterated his commitment to supporting young people through educational assistance, vocational training and skills development programmes.

The chief of Kumawu Bodomase, Nana Baffour Atta Dweneboah, appealed to both the Member of Parliament and the District Chief Executive to deepen their collaboration to fast-track development in the area. He highlighted the urgent need for improvements in road infrastructure, educational facilities and other essential social amenities, noting that such interventions were critical to the socio-economic progress of Bodomase.

Representing the Bodomasehene, the Bodomase Ankobea Hene, Nana Sefa Afriyie, also used the platform to make a specific appeal to the Kumawu District Assembly. He called on the Assembly to deploy the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) machinery to reshape and rehabilitate inner street roads within Bodomase to ensure smooth and safe movement for residents, especially during the rainy season.

According to Nana Sefa Afriyie, the poor state of some internal roads continues to affect daily activities and local commerce, and timely intervention by the Assembly would greatly enhance mobility and economic activity within the community.

Speaking on behalf of the organisers, the Public Relations Officer for the programme, Mr. Frimpong Marfo, expressed satisfaction with the successful organisation and peaceful conduct of the festival. He noted that the strong participation and unity displayed by residents reaffirmed the relevance of the Bra Fie Festival as a platform for fostering togetherness, dialogue and development. He further prayed for continued peace, progress and greater achievements for Kumawu Bodomase in the years ahead.

This year’s Bra Fie Festival once again went beyond cultural celebration, serving as a vital forum for engagement between traditional authorities, political leaders and the people, while reinforcing a collective commitment to the development of the Kumawu Bodomase community.
