Kumasi Mayor Visits Dagomba Line, Supports Fire Victims With Food and Household Items

The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, visited Dagomba Line in the Kumasi Metropolis to sympathize with residents affected by a recent fire outbreak and to offer relief support to victims.

During the visit, the Mayor toured the affected area to assess the extent of damage caused by the fire and interacted directly with residents who lost their properties in the incident. He expressed deep sympathy to the victims and assured them of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly’s continuous support as they recover from the disaster.

To help ease the immediate hardship faced by the affected families, Hon. Ofori Boadi Agyemang donated assorted food items and household essentials. The items included clothes, mattresses, rice, maize, mosquito nets, buckets, basins, bowls, cups, and plates. The donation was aimed at providing temporary relief and restoring a sense of dignity to victims as they begin the process of rebuilding their lives.

The Mayor used the occasion to urge residents to be safety conscious, especially in congested communities where fire outbreaks can spread rapidly with severe consequences. He directed the National Disaster Management Organisation to intensify education on fire prevention and safety practices within the community to help avert future occurrences. He further emphasized that women, children, the elderly, and other vulnerable persons should be given priority during the distribution of the relief items.

The donated items were officially handed over to the Assembly Member for the area and community leaders to ensure transparency and fairness in the distribution process. Receiving the items on behalf of the community, the leaders expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Mayor and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly for the timely intervention and pledged to ensure that the items are distributed equitably to those most affected.

The visit underscored the Assembly’s commitment to responsive and compassionate governance, reaffirming its resolve to stand with residents in times of disaster and to promote safety and resilience across communities within the Kumasi Metropolis.
