
The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang, has been sworn in as Chairman of the newly reconstituted Management Board of Kumasi City Market Limited, a strategic move aimed at strengthening governance, improving market operations, and advancing the government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda.

The swearing-in ceremony, presided over by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring that Kumasi City Market, one of the busiest commercial hubs in the region, is efficiently managed and positioned to drive sustained economic growth.

Addressing the new Board, Dr. Amoakohene charged members to provide visionary leadership, uphold transparency, and collaborate effectively with traders, stakeholders, and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA). He emphasized the critical role the market plays in boosting trade, creating employment opportunities, and enhancing the overall business environment in Kumasi.

In his acceptance remarks, Mayor Ofori-Agyeman Boadi expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in the Board by the government. He pledged that the management team would implement impactful reforms aimed at improving sanitation, security, revenue mobilization, and operational efficiency across the market. The Mayor assured that the welfare of traders and the broader development of the Kumasi metropolis would remain top priorities.

The formation of the new Board signals a renewed focus on modernizing the administration of Kumasi City Market and reinforcing its strategic role as a key economic driver in the Ashanti Region.
